Wat is snail mail?

Snail mail is een populaire Engelse term wat verwijst naar de traditionele langzamere, fysieke post die door een postbezorger in jouw brievenbus beland. Sommige noemen het ook wel slakkenpost in het Nederlands.

Waarom een snail mail over de Nederlandse geschiedenis en cultuur?

Ik ben de oprichtster van Visiting The Dutch Countryside. Dit is een platform waar ik mensen meer leer over de Nederlandse cultuur en historie. Nou doe ik dit voornamelijk via tours, artikelen op mijn website en video's op sociale media. Ik kwam er namelijk achter dat veel mensen niet weten hoe rijk en divers de Nederlandse cultuur en geschiedenis is. Er zijn zelfs mensen die denken dat Nederland geen cultuur heeft. Ik heb toen besloten dat het mijn taak is om mensen via internet wat bij te leren over de Nederlandse cultuur en historie.

Hoewel ik dit zelf nog steeds erg leuk vind, mis ik nog iets tastbaars. We leven in een wereld die vol zit met beeldschermen en abonnementen voor streaming services, etc. maar uiteindelijk ben je al je favoriete films en series kwijt als je het abonnement stopt. 

Het voordeel van snail mail is dat het tastbaar is en dus nu van jou is. Daarnaast hebben we al genoeg vierkante ogen, het is dus de hoogste tijd om ze weer iets ronder te maken. 

Verzending binnen Nederland
Het kan na verzending nog tot zeven werkdagen duren voordat deze snail mail club uit Nederland in jouw brievenbus ligt. Stuur even een mailtje naar slakkenpostitseclub[@]outlook.com als je mijn Itse snail mail dan nog niet binnen hebt gekregen; dan zorg ik dat het geregeld wordt.
Verzending buiten Nederland
Het kan tussen de vier en dertig werkdagen duren voordat mijn Itse Mail in jouw brievenbus legt. Mocht je na 30 werkdagen nog steeds niks ontvangen hebben, stuur mij dan even een mailtje naar het volgende emailadres: slakkenpostitseclub[@]outlook.com. Dan ga ik ervoor zorgen dat er een vervanger jouw kant opkomt. 

Aanmeldingsperiode en wachttijd
Je kunt je aanmelden voor dezelfde editie van de Itse Mail voor deze maand als je je op z'n laatst op de 25ste van de maand inschrijft. Als je jezelf later inschrijft dan krijg je de volgende editie van de Itse Mail in je brievenbus. Mocht je nou denken: 'Ik wil graag alle edities van dit jaar, maar het is nu april... wat kan ik doen?'. Je zou een jaarabonnement (deze stopt automatisch na een jaar) afkunnen sluiten. Dan krijg je alle vorige edities ook in je brievenbus.
Meestal wordt de Itse Mail aan het eind van elke maand verstuurd, met uitzondering van december. De reden voor deze uitzondering is de uitzonderlijke drukke periode die postbedrijven tegemoet gaan. Dus de december editie van Itse Mail verstuur ik eerder. Je kunt je wel nog aanmelden tot 25 december, maar dan moet je wel rekening houden met extra vertraging door de drukke periode.

Kan ik ook de vorige edities van Itse Mail kopen?
Ja, dat kan. Het is wel alleen mogelijk als je een abonnement voor het hele jaar aanschaft (na een jaar loopt deze automatisch af). Het maakt dan niet uit of je het in juni of zelfs december koopt. Ik stuur dan alle vorige edities jouw kant op. 
Ik moet mijn betaalmethode, email adres of verzendadres veranderen
Soms verander je van bank, verhuis je naar een ander adres, etc. en natuurlijk wil je geen enkele editie van Itse Mail missen door gemiste betalingen of doordat deze verzonden is naar een ander adres. Je kunt via deze  link je gegevens aanpassen.
Ik zie dat er vlak achter elkaar twee keer geld is afgeschreven van mijn bankrekening voor Itse Mail, hoe zit dat?
Dat kan wel eens gebeuren als je de Itse Mail aan het begin van een aanmeldingsperiode zit, maar gelukkig hoef je je daarover geen zorgen te maken: elke betaling komt overeen met een specifieke maand.
Ik zou mijn Itse Mail graag willen annuleren
Wat jammer. Je kunt jouw maandabonnement heel gemakkelijk opzeggen als het je toch niet zo aanspreekt of als je binnen 14 dagen na het bestellen besluit dat u het abonnement niet wilt.

Mijn Itse Mail is beschadigd binnengekomen
Dat is natuurlijk niet de bedoeling. Stuur mij even een mailtje naar slakkenpostitseclub[@]outlook.com met jouw naam, order nummer en foto's van de schade. Dan zorg ik ervoor dat het geregeld wordt.

Je kunt via mijn snail mail webshop heel gemakkelijk en veilig afrekenen via iDeal, credit card, etc.

Privacy Policy

Je kunt je op elk moment aan- of afmelden voor cookies. Ik verzamel alleen gegevens die gebruikt worden voor interne marketingdoeleinden en deze gegevens zullen nooit worden verkocht aan een andere partij.

What is snail mail?
Snail mail is a popular English term for the traditional postal service, which is obviously much slower than digital mail delivered to your email. So it's mail sent the traditional way.
Why did I create a snail mail about Dutch culture & history?
I'm the founder of Visiting The Dutch Countryside, which is a platform where I teach people more about Dutch culture and history. I generally teach people more about The Netherlands through my website, tours and social media.
The reason I started sharing this information is that many people (Dutch and those from outside the country) do not know how rich and diverse Dutch culture and history truly are. There are even people who think that The Netherlands has no culture. That’s why I made it my personal mission to teach people about Dutch culture and history online.
While I still enjoy making these videos and articles, I do feel like I'm missing something tangible. We live in a world that is filled to the brim with streaming services, where you don't own anything. If you stop your subscription, you're left with nothing, and that doesn't sit right with me. The advantage of snail mail is that it's tangible and is now yours. You can do whatever you want with it. Do you want to create a booklet on Dutch culture and history that includes all the information I shared, so you can easily read it again? You can do so. Besides that, we all have enough square eyes to last a lifetime.
Postage within The Netherlands
It can take up to 7 working days for my snail mail to reach you at your address in The Netherlands. If you haven’t received it by then, please email me at slakkenpostitseclub[@]outlook.com, and I’ll make sure to resolve the matter.
International postage

It can take anywhere from 4 to 30 working days for my snail mail to be delivered by post from The Netherlands to any other country. Please email slakkenpostitseclub[@]outlook.com if you haven’t received your Dutch history and culture snail mail by then, and I’ll be sure to send you a replacement.

Tracking

My Itse Mail Club is mailed with stamps, keeping your subscription as affordable as possible. That is why there is no track-and-trace available for the Itse Mail Club.
Sign-up period and wait time
You can sign up for my Itse Mail Club through the 25th of each month to receive the issue of Itse Mail from that same month. If you sign up after the 25th of each month, you will receive the next month’s edition when it’s sent out.
My Itse Mail is generally sent at the end of each month, except in December. Because December is such a busy time for postal offices, I will send these ones out earlier. You can still sign up until the 25th of December to receive December’s issue of Itse Mail. However, expect some extra delay due to the high volume of posts worldwide.

Can I get the previous Itse Mails?
The only way you can catch up on the previous issue of Itse Mail is by purchasing the one-year subscription (which doesn’t renew- it’s a one-time payment). But there is limited availability.
Need to change your email, payment method or address?
It happens. You might move, or you might get a different bank account or email address (trust me, I have like seven myself), and of course, you do not want to miss your trusty Itse Mail shipping confirmation or miss a monthly payment because of that. You can use this link.
I see that there is a payment overlap. Why is that?
That sometimes happens when you join my Itse Mail at the beginning of a sign-up period. But don’t worry, each payment corresponds to a specific month.


Can I cancel my Itse Mail?
You can cancel your monthly subscription very easily if you do not enjoy it as much as you thought you would, or if you decide within 14 days of ordering that you do not want the subscription. And that’s okay, you know what they say: different strokes for different folks.
I got my Itse Mail, but unfortunately, it’s damaged.
I’m sorry to hear that; that’s obviously not the goal. Please contact me by sending me an email to slakkenpostitseclub[@]outlook.com with your name, order number and photos of the damage.
