This is the perfect snail mail to learn more about Dutch culture and history and to practice your Dutch. This snail mail is partially in Dutch and in English, which is especially helpful for those learning Dutch. Take some time to discover new Dutch words and immerse yourself a little bit in the Dutch language, while at the same time learning more about Dutch culture and history with this snail mail.
You can subscribe until the 25th of each month (Amsterdam time). If you subscribe later, you will get your first Itse Mail the following month when it is sent out at the end of the month.

What is snail mail?
Snail mail is a popular English term for the traditional postal service, which is obviously much slower than digital mail delivered to your email. And that means that snail mail will be delivered in your actual mailbox. It’s physical and not digital.
Why did I create a snail mail about Dutch culture & history?
I'm the founder of Visiting The Dutch Countryside, which is a platform where I teach people more about Dutch culture and history. I generally teach people more about The Netherlands through my website, tours, and social media.
The reason I started sharing this information is that many people (Dutch and those from outside the country) do not know how rich and diverse Dutch culture and history truly are. That’s why I made it my personal mission to teach people about Dutch culture and history online.
While I still enjoy making these videos and articles, and I’m not stopping anytime soon, I do feel like I'm missing something tangible. And that's why I've created this snail mail club in The Netherlands: Itse Mail Club.
What's in this monthly Dutch history and culture snailmail?
You get four pieces every month. The first three things always stay the same, and the last piece that changes whenever I want.
1. A letter from me written in Dutch. In this letter, I will not only write about the content of this month's culture and history snail mail, but also share some of my thoughts about Dutch culture and history, and the way we view it, in the hopes of challenging your mind. This is a great way to practice your Dutch.
2. A double-sided A4-size sheet of well-researched information about a specific subject, where I discuss something within Dutch culture and history. This one will be written in English, because there will be more difficult words and sentences in here.
3. A postcard of an old photo from the Dutch National Archives, which fits the month or the stories that I've talked about in the snail mail. There will be a few Dutch words on the back stating the location of the photo, etc. Think of Carnaval instead of Carnival.
4. And lastly, something creative or stimulating for your brain or to decorate your house with. A crossword, photo print, bingo card, etc. This changes every time. It's something you can look forward to every single month.
Shipping fees are not included in the monthly price for this snail mail subscription.
Note: to keep it affordable, I do not offer track-and-trace.
